Hi, I'm Rhonda and my TB is Shelby. He is wonderfully bright, full of energy and just plain full of it. He is an ex-racehorse that I rescued a week after I had to put my BEST BUDDY in the world down because of a bone infection. Louie was the reason why I actually found this website. I wanted to talk and get to know others with ex-racehorses or those with TB or other sport horses.
I know that Shelby will be a joy to work with and I'm excited about our new relationship. I'm picking him up on 9/22/07.
I know that Louie is in a Much better place and completly LOVING the freedom and movement that he didn't have here in Life.

Favorite Destination
Anywhere but Michigan. I love Vermont and wish to visit Washington State. Would love to tour Europe.
Where I've Raced and Traveled
Just here in Michigan. I just got Shelby about a month ago so we're just really happy spending time together getting to know each other.
Riding Tip
Go slow always say hello with a hug and always talk to him/her. Always let them know what you're getting ready to do.
Favorite Riding Memory
For memories~ When I was learning to ride I was 4. I learned on this really mean Shetland Pony. She didn't like anyone but my cousins on her, I was DETERMINED to make her like me (ok it was a mistake of a 4 year old but I LOVE HORSES!) SO they went inside for lunch I chose to "hang out" with Penny. I immediatly got on her and decided that I was the best rider there was. Then I saw her course and the HUGE Holy bushes on the side of the house by the kitchen window. We went faster and into a really rocky trot stopped and I flew threw the air and landed squarley in that bush. At first I thought it was funny then I thought "OH NO you DON'T!" Squiggled out of that bush grabbed the reins and popped her on the nose.(I didn't know you shouldn't do that) So I took her back to the stairs climed back on and ended in the holy bushes 3 more times. On the 3rd time my Aunt was Mortified to see me scratched up and bleeding in the middle of the bush, I was ok I told her and grabbed the reins and took her back to the steps with my Aunt telling me NO all along. I had to win this horse over. I did that on the 4th run. She got to the bush and as she went to buck I popped her with the reins,The startle reflex was enough for her to stop and continmplate her next action. She never threw me again after that. From then on I've always decided if I fall litterally get back in the saddle or figure out a way to get back on the horse.. I'm now disabled with a back injury from work but I still ride and I'm still looking for work. IF it were'nt for that little lifes training when I was 4 I would be sitting on my couch eating bon bons and feeling sorry for my self. AREN"T HORSES AWESOME TEACHERS???
