Posted by Anonymous on 8/3/2007 I'm looking for a sweet, gentle horse that my granddaughter, 4 1/2 years old, can learn to ride on. I also want to be able to take people who don;t knwo the front end of a horse from the back on a trail ride and have them come back safely. Do you know of any horses that are "free to a good home" that would fit the bill? I keep my horse on a farm with open pastures, a lake, other horses that all get along well, barns they can go into when they wish, a great woman who looks after them as if they were her own (I've been with her for 12 years and two horses), they have hay in front of them all day, and are grained twice a day if needed. I live in St. Louis, MIssouri. My email address is cstarkloff@starkloff.org thank you Colleen Starkloff | |

You might try looking at a local rescue ranch-sometimes they have nice older horses that are very tame and "kid broke" for adoption.

I was looking on the AQHA website the other day, and they have pages and pages of FREE horses. Of course, you'd have to spend a lot of time sorting through them, because they all come from different backgrounds, but many of the ads "said" the horses were bombproof. It may be a start!-Praise The Lord!
