![]() Posted by equestriandreamer on 10/10/2007 Hello all, My name is Erin and I have been riding forever and taking serious lessons for 14 years. I am a student at Kansas State University majoring in Animal Science with an Equine Science Certificate. I have loved horses for as long as I can remember and used to ride my grandma's before she died and the horses were sold. Then I kind of quit riding for a while cause I didn't have the opportunity, during that time I danced and swam (my other favorite things to do). Then 14 years ago I started taking western riding lessons (i wanted to barrel race), but I was soon "converted" to english when I started learning about dressage and I haven't really looked back. I leased an arabian gelding named Desperado for about 8 1/2 years, then about 2 years ago I bought my own, he's the best little chestnut thoroughbred ever, he's three now. His name is Dodger and I love him to death. I also train other horses (for two year olds through 18 year olds), teach lessons, and help manage the barn where I board. I've been very lucky to have the experiences I've had....I wouldn't trade a day. Besides that I have a pembroke welsh corgi (which I noticed some other people on the forum have...yay!!!) name Dakota (I obviously love names that start with "D" ;)!!), two house cats (Sneakers and Cleo) and 1 barn cat (Java). I love to talk about horses and horses related things, and I would really like to try just about every form of riding sometime in my life. ~equestriandreamer~ | |

Hello Erin! Welcome! you've posted some fantastic photos-where did these come from? The horses are all doing so very nicely.
We're all pretty much horse and dog fans--they're awesome dogs, very horse friendly. By the way, you wouldn't happen to know Amber McBride, would you? She's helping me and riding my horses and also went to K-State (part of the time).

Most of the pictures I just randomly found on the internet and really liked them so I saved them to my computer. Also the name Amber McBride sounds sort of familiar but I don't really know why....I don't know her though.

Hey Erin!
Go K-State! Have you taken the class "The Horse as a Window to the World" taught by Prof. James Coffman? I believe you can get dual ASI/Equine certificate credit for it. It was a FANTASTIC class; very writing intensive. I took it Spring '07. I grew up in Gardner, KS. Are you from the KC area?
P.S. Emily's horses are Awesome!
Erin says:
I have taken that class, actually I took it spring of '07 also (small world huh?)....it was pretty cool. I thought that some of the topics cold have been better, but all in all I really liked it. I grew up in Lawrence and that's where my horse is now. I had him in Manhattan last year but the owner of the barn I board at in Lawrence made me an offer to keep him there that I just couldn't turn down. I miss him during the week but I go home on weekends and ride.
