Romp In The Snow

MY HORSE IS THE BEST!

I haven't been able to ride for about five days now, because of the weather, work, and sickness. I was back in the saddle today for a romp in the snow!

MISSY used to be so hard to manage with even one day off! It was like she was punishing us for not riding her every time. Now, she just seems to aim to please, no matter what the circumstance!

Today was fun. MY MISSY and I first rode out onto the road- whoa! A little icy there- headed back to the cornfield! My dog Frodo and his new best friend Buddy followed us and played on their own, occasionally swinging by to "bump" my foot with their noses. Whenever they took off, MISSY wanted to too, and I well, I pretty much let her. We cantered and trotted and walked all around the cornfield, sometimes through above-the-ankle snowdrifts! MISSY and I know the ground- we know where it's soft and where the foxhole is. The ground was frozen this morning, but the snow provided cushioning for my girl.

She feels so good to ride! I just know that if I can continue to keep her in shape, that we will for sure be able to ride in a dressage clinic and compete (at least once) next year! I can't wait to show her off and tell everybody our story. There is so much more to learn with her, though, and I cannot wait to see our next improvement! She is so gifted and perfect! MWAAAA!!!!!
