Posted by Melinda_Skylark on 11/23/2007 on Melinda_Skylark's blog We had our first snow this week. The horses were not happy, especially the three geldings who were out while i was at work during the snow. Thankfully it wasn't to hard and that the horses were blanketed. Mowgli loves the snow, he gallops through it and loves to stick his nose in it and pull it out covered in white! The goat on the other hand hates it! He is so funny to watch as he tentatively places each hoof in the snow, only to be chased by the foal.
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! |

Our goats also hate the snow. They stand in the barn, like the little queens they are..."You expect us to go out in THAT?"
Melinda_Skylark says:
Ha ha I actually have a blanket for my goat! He HATES the snow!
emily says:
Like I could get a blanket on Petunia... She's um. Large. (understatement).
Melinda_Skylark says:
haha- thats funny! I'm lucky that my pygmy goat isnt the typical pygmy goat in that he thinks he's a horse. He stays out in the pasture with them everyday, and if I go on a trail ride with friends and we take more than one horse out of the pasture he will follow us along the entire trail! He's crazy!
emily says:
Goats rock. No two ways about it.
Petunia and Belle are seriously bonded because Belle was rejected by her mother. Last year, we added Hershey, a La Mancha, to the herd so we could get Petunia to bond to a goat instead of a horse, and Belle to bond with a horse instead of a goat. Well, it worked, sort of. Now they're all bonded together. When we take Baleno and Volare out on the trail, we can hear the three of them (two goats and Belle) calling out for the geldings...
