Already One Year...

Today marks ONE YEAR since we bought MISSY, Doug's and my FOREVER HORSE. It is amazing to think of everything we have accomplished in this year and how much more there is to come!

Since we first loaded MISSY into the trailer to take her to her new home:

1. We started MISSY under saddle and now ride her six days a week
2. We have been on numerous trail rides with our MISSY
3. MISSY has made several new friends; humans, horses, dogs, a donkey, and a goat
4. MISSY has made a cross-country trip to Pennsylvania without any problems
5. MISSY and I have taken our first riding lesson together, and are scheduled for the next
6. MISSY crosses over roads, railroad tracks, and sometimes a puddle or two
7. MISSY has learned to trust us as we have learned to trust her
8. MISSY has learned to stand for the farrier and is now sporting her first corrective shoe (due to an old leg injury, she just needs a pad for support on her hind foot)
9. MISSY has had a horse dentist float her teeth
10. We have found that we can allow kids and novice riders ride MISSY without a problem
11. MISSY jumped a small stream
12. I have joined the AQHA
13. MISSY has helped me to develop confidence, strength, and balance
14. Doug and I got married and spent part of our honeymoon giving our wedding guests rides on MISSY
15. WE OWN A BEAUTIFUL PERFECT FOREVER HORSE... And to think- we didn't have any idea that she would turn out to be this great! She didn't come from very good circumstances and we were prepared to not even ride her- just let her be a spoiled pet if she was not able to be ridden.

There are still a few things that I am looking forward to- showing, getting a ribbon with her, riding her in a parade, possibly breeding her, and FOREVER!
